The Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and Leisure Management at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) trains ports specialists who understands that sports and exercise contribute significantly to the well-being of individuals and society.

The theme throughout the studies are experiential activities and smart solutions. During the studies, you will learn for example to create commercial sports and leisure services, implement products and events, instruct sports sessions and provide exercise and nutrition counselling.

The studies provide you with the opportunity to learn about managing and organizing sports events and activities and will carry out projects in close collaboration with sports and tourism companies, teams, and organizations. Projects enable students to deepen the knowledge in their desired area of specialization.

Graduates of our degree find work in both instructing and coaching as well as in fitness training, sports business and activity tourism. They also possess the knowledge needed to create and run their own sports and leisure business. In addition, graduates of our degree have a solid foundation for continuing their studies in the broad field of sports and leisure management.

“I can recommend the Sports programme at KAMK especially to those who want to do something in the field of sports, but don’t know exactly what their “own thing” is. That was the case for me, too. The studies at KAMK widen horizons and inspire new ideas. Now I know that I want to specialize further in pedagogy. In the end, it’s up to you to make the final decision for the orientation of your career.

I appreciate the supportive and relaxed atmosphere between the staff and students at KAMK. Compared to the Sports programmes in Germany, studying is more group work oriented and more practical. We start instructing real clients already in the first year, which gives us a great advantage in knowing our own strengths, and useful skills for working life.” Robert, Germany

Stories of our students

My story

Nikita Goncharenko is a Sports and Leisure Management graduate. “My KAMK Bachelor’s degree gave me the chance to obtain work experience from five different football clubs. After graduation I worked in a local football club, where I developed the amateur league, coached junior and adult teams and also did marketing for the club’s recreation facility and organized peripheral events during the first team’s matches. However, I wanted to continue my studies further and I’m now studying towards a Master’s Degree in the same field, in University of Jyväskylä.”
